Australian business-for-sale market
Figures come from listings now public and for sale: asking prices, not sale prices, and the sample is skewed by area, industry and how complete listings are. n beside each number is how many listings it uses; under 5 it shows "Too few".

Sales
None yet: only sales where the seller reported a price are counted.
How to read these figures
- Price ÷ profit = asking price ÷ yearly profit on the same basis, from the seller's figures. It is not a forecast of your return; stock, deal costs and finance are not in it.
- Owner-run profit before the owner's wage includes the owner's own labour, so it is counted apart from managed profit and never compared with it.
- Rent share only counts listings that show both weekly revenue and weekly rent. Whether outgoings are included varies, so do not judge a business on the ratio alone.
- "Sale / asking price" only counts businesses whose sellers reported the sale price. Use it to gauge room for negotiation.
